FAQ
Where does the food come from?
We rescue food directly from supermarkets, local shops, wholesalers and even from the field. We go in through the front door and have written agreements with the retailers we work with. That means there’s no rummaging through bins to get you your lunch.
What is “pay-as-you-feel”?
Pay-as-you-feel is exactly what it says. It is an invitation to the customer to decide how much they will pay for their meal. It may well lead to some people taking the mickey, but we hope that we can encourage people to think about what they eat and value it.
Where does the money go?
We are a community interest company, which means that the money we make from serving food goes back into running the project. We pay rent, we buy petrol, we have vehicles to maintain and many more costs to account for. There is certainly no such thing as a free lunch where we’re concerned.
Why bother?
Why do we devote so much of our time to this project? Well, because we think that it is not only wrong that over a third of the world’s food is wasted, but also incredibly stupid. We believe that that can change, and that one problem can become the solution for another; because we know that there is no need for hunger in a world that produces this much.
